Driver Escapes Moments Before Waste Truck Goes Up in Flames in Tongaat
A driver narrowly escaped injury after a Durban Solid Waste (DSW) truck caught fire in the Tongaat central business district on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred on Gopalall Hurbans Street when a member of a security company (RUSA), who was on patrol, noticed the municipal waste vehicle engulfed in flames, and called for emergency services.
According to initial information, the driver managed to exit the truck shortly after the fire started. No injuries were reported.

Emergency services were alerted, and firefighters arrived a short time later to bring the blaze under control. The fire was eventually extinguished before it could spread to nearby properties or vehicles in the busy town centre.
